Frequently asked questions
What is SkinAtlas?
Your personal skincare map: it decodes ingredients, tracks your products and routines, and ties them to how your skin actually does over time — so you learn what works for your skin, not generic advice.
How do I start?
Visit Discover to explore the knowledge base, or search a product directly to decode it. Save the ones you use to your Collection, build your AM and PM Routines, and start logging in the Journal. After about a week of entries, Insights will start finding patterns.
What is the Collection?
Your personal product library. It organises everything you've saved into smart shelves — Recently Used, Running Low, Best Performing, Finished, and Wishlist — so you can see your routine at a glance and spot what needs restocking or reviewing.
What is the Journal?
A daily skin log that takes about ten seconds. Rate how your skin feels, add skin events (Beach Day, Stress, Illness, New Product, etc.) to give context to your scores, and write an optional note. Over time it builds the dataset that Insights reads.
What are Routines?
Your AM and PM product line-ups. Add the products you actually use each morning and evening, reorder them by step, and track your completion streak. Routines also power the ingredient conflict checker — it flags any products that shouldn't be layered together.
What are Insights?
Verdicts drawn from your own journal and routines — for example, 'your rating rose after you added X.' They're correlation from your own data: patterns worth noticing, not proof.
Why does it say 'not enough data yet'?
Insights need roughly a week of journal entries before and during using a product before they'll judge it. Keep logging and they'll appear.
What is Skin observation?
Upload a close-up photo at Analyzer → Skin observation and get a plain-English description of your skin's visible traits — texture, hydration level, congestion, and tone. Every signed-in account gets 2 free observations. Results are AI-generated and not a medical assessment.
What is the skin profile?
A short self-reported quiz at Settings → Skin profile covering skin type, top concerns, sensitivity level, and how long you've used your current routine. Your answers personalise the AI copilot's responses. After 30+ days of journal entries, the page also shows pattern insights inferred from your own log data.
Can I share my routine?
Yes. On the Routines page tap 'Share routine' to generate a public link at /r/your-handle. Anyone can view your AM/PM routine, key active ingredients, and your skin type tag without signing in. You can delete the link at any time from the Routines page.
What should I look out for?
Correlation isn't causation — especially the ingredient 'patterns to watch,' since ingredients overlap across products. Treat them as leads, not verdicts.
Do I need an account?
No. You can search products and build a collection right away — it's saved in this browser on this device. Sign in any time to save it permanently and sync across your devices; your existing shelf merges into your account automatically. Note: data saved as a guest lives only in this browser, so clearing your browser data or switching devices will lose it unless you've signed in.
How much is free?
Products and the Collection: unlimited on free. Correlation insights: 3 results free, unlimited on Pro. Skin observation: 2 free photo analyses per account, unlimited on Pro. The AI copilot: 5 questions per day on free, unlimited on Pro.
Is there a paid plan?
SkinAtlas is free to use. A Pro tier is in the works — it will unlock unlimited AI Copilot access, deeper ingredient correlation insights, and a PDF export for dermatologist appointments. You'll hear about it here first.
Is this medical advice?
No. SkinAtlas is for information and self-tracking only — not medical or dermatological advice. See a professional for any skin concern.
