Antioxidant
Lime Extract

Lime Extract is derived from the fruit of Citrus aurantifolia (Key lime or Persian lime). It provides vitamin C, limonoids, flavonoids, and organic acids (citric, ascorbic). Used in skincare as an antioxidant and brightening agent. The extract format is far less phototoxic than lime essential oil (which contains bergapten), but the same general caution about citrus photosensitivity applies at higher concentrations.

antioxidantskin-brighteningskin-conditioning
Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) fruit extract is rich in vitamin C (ascorbic acid), limonoids, and flavonoids with antioxidant and mild skin-brightening propertiesFlavonoids from lime (hesperidin, naringenin analogues) contribute anti-inflammatory activity alongside antioxidant protectionThe acidic pH of lime extract may contribute mild exfoliating properties when present at active concentrations, though at cosmetic use levels it primarily functions as an antioxidant and skin-conditioning agent
Citrus fruit extracts can cause phototoxicity and contact sensitization in photosensitized individuals; lime peel oil (separate from fruit extract) has higher phototoxic risk than the diluted fruit extract
