An extract from the flowers of Narcissus pseudo-narcissus (common daffodil) containing antioxidant flavonoids and alkaloids, used to protect and condition skin.
Extract from the root of Nardostachys chinensis (Chinese spikenard), a Himalayan herb used in East Asian medicine; found in prestige Korean hanbang formulas for its calming, skin-soothing sesquiterpene content.
Extract from Nasturtium officinale (watercress), an aquatic cruciferous plant. Rich in glucosinolates that convert to bioactive isothiocyanates, plus significant vitamin C and carotenoid content.
Aqueous extract from watercress (Nasturtium officinale) leaves and stems. Rich in glucosinolates, vitamins, and minerals. Used in Shiseido and Elixir formulas for its antioxidant and mild skin-conditioning properties.
Natto gum is polyglutamic acid (PGA) — a biopolymer produced by Bacillus subtilis during the fermentation of soybeans (natto). It has extraordinary water-holding capacity, exceeding even hyaluronic acid. Used in Matsuyama's Hadauru ceramide line for superior moisturization.
Whole-plant extract from Nelumbo nucifera (sacred lotus); distinct INCI from flower- or root-specific extracts. Used in prestige hanbang formulas for its broad polyphenol profile.
An extract from the flowers of the sacred lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) rich in flavonoids and tannins with antioxidant, soothing, and mild brightening properties.
Hydrosol (floral water) distilled from the flowers of Nelumbo nucifera (sacred lotus). Lighter than a full extract, it contributes mild soothing and hydrating properties.
Extract from the root of Nelumbo nucifera (sacred lotus); distinct INCI from lotus flower extract. Provides antioxidant polyphenols and soothing effects.
A lotus seed extract that soothes skin and provides gentle antioxidant support.
A flavonoid derivative from citrus (bitter orange) used primarily to mask taste/odor in cosmetics, with secondary antioxidant activity.
A diester of neopentyl glycol and capric acid (C10) used as a lightweight, low-viscosity emollient that imparts a dry, silky skin feel; a different acid chain from neopentyl glycol diheptanoate.
A synthetic ester emollient that provides skin conditioning and smoothing benefits with excellent spreadability.
A diester of neopentyl glycol and heptanoic acid used as a lightweight, low-viscosity emollient that imparts a dry, silky skin feel and functions as a carrier solvent in sunscreens and serums.
An extract from Nepeta cataria (catnip), a mint-family herb containing nepetalactones and rosmarinic acid, used in cosmetics for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Nephrite Powder is finely milled nephrite jade, a fibrous calcium magnesium iron silicate mineral [Ca2(Mg,Fe)5Si8O22(OH)2] prized in East Asian culture. In cosmetics, it appears in ultra-premium formulas (such as Sulwhasoo's Timetreasure line) as a mineral powder contributing softness, light diffusion, and mild oil absorption to the formula's sensory profile. Its cosmetic efficacy beyond physical texture effects is largely positioning-driven, though the mineral's chemical inertness and fine particle size make it a well-tolerated ingredient.
Nicotinic acid, the free acid form of vitamin B3 (distinct from niacinamide/nicotinamide). At cosmetic use concentrations, functions as a skin conditioner and antioxidant. Included in Filorga Time-Filler 5-XP's NCEF complex alongside niacinamide and other B vitamins.
A versatile vitamin B3 derivative with multiple benefits.
A suspension of cultured leaf cells of Nicotiana sylvestris (woodland tobacco), used in anti-aging formulations for claimed collagen-protective and skin-conditioning effects.
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+), a critical coenzyme in cellular energy metabolism and DNA repair. Included in Filorga's NCEF complex for its cellular energy-supporting properties. NAD+ is the oxidized form; works alongside NADH in the electron transport chain.
A cold-pressed oil from the seeds of Nigella sativa (black seed) rich in thymoquinone, linoleic acid, and thymol, valued for anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties in skin care.
An inert gas used in cosmetics as a propellant in aerosol products or as a blanketing gas during manufacturing to prevent oxidation of oxygen-sensitive ingredients.
